To work out your BMI (body mass index) find a calculator and follow the steps below.

  1. Multiply your height in inches by itself.
    For example, if you are 5’8” that is 68 inches times 68 equals 4,624.
  2. Now divide your weight in pounds by that number.
    So if you weigh 164 pounds you would divide 164 by 4,624 and get 0.03546.
  3. Finally multiply that number by 704.5. This is your BMI in this case 25.

BMI under 18.5.
You are underweight, which is associated with health risks. Dieting would be dangerous to your health. Work on eating a nutritious diet and becoming more fit.

BMI of 18.5 to 25.
You are normal weight. Eat a nutritious diet. Stay fit and maintain your weight.
