Instructions for Use

IMPORTANT
Could you please put on the jacket complete with all weights as delivered whilst reading these instructions? You may need to sit down to put it on.

Wearing the jacket and walking a few paces you will be aware of the effect on your body of one stone of weight. Try to feel and be aware of the strain that this must inevitably put on your joints muscles and organs, most of all your heart.

Most people express shock at this experience. How many jackets are you carrying? Please calculate.

Take off the jacket now and walk a few steps. This is how it feels to be one stone lighter and how it will feel when you loose your first stone.

(You can remove the weights now by laying the jacket flat and raising it lightly to ease the padded weights out. Lay the weights flat in a convenient container. When not wearing the jacket containing weights please lay flat.)

1. Weight Loss
Choose a diet to suit your constitution, ideally one which you feel you can comfortably sustain over time.

When you have lost half a pound place one weight in the jacket and begin wearing. Add subsequent weights to replace further losses. This maintains your metabolic rate using up the same energy as at the beginning of the diet. Remember to spread the weights evenly and symmetrically throughout the jacket.

Wear the jacket as often as you can, walking around the house, and at everyday activities. In particular wear the jacket going for brisk walks and similar exercise.

When you have lost one stone take a period of time, from one week to a month, and adjust your lifestyle to maintain your new weight before starting once again with the weights. If, for instance, one stone represents about 15% of your total weight then you will probably need to be eating 15% less food and exercising 15%more. After a week you would hardly notice that your meals are 15% less. If as in many cases the 15% extra exercise is from a zero start then bear in mind that you would probably be upset if you knew a dog that went unexercised, - a very stressed dog. Be kind to yourself.
